    Unraveling Neurodevelopment & Mental Health

Childhood neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders are rising at an alarming rate. Attendees of this Lunch & Learn will gain an understanding of retained infant (primitive) reflexes in depth and will understand how primitive reflexes affect nearly all children and adults with various diagnoses. These diagnoses may include developmental delays, ADHD, OCD, Tourettes, Dyslexia and school issues in general (reading comprehesion, ability to sit still, focus, behave normal in social situations, etc), anxiety, and depression.

If you or your child have primitive reflexes your brain will have a difficult time reaching it's peak potential. One example is the flight or fight primitive reflex. Attendees will understand how an individual's health is affected by the body being in a chronic flight or fight state (gas pedal). Dr. Stinn will discuss ways you can stimulate the Vagus Nerve and bring your body out of that flight or fight state to promote growth and healing in the body.

Dr. Stephen Stinn has been practicing Chiropractic care since 2016. He has 120 plus hours of upper cervical chiropractic studies and Pediatric Functional Neurology.

    Power & Control Paradigm

    More information to come

    Objectives for this workshop:

    1) Define the power and control paradigm we currently live in.

    2) Tie the power and control paradigm to the development of personality disorders, the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) inventory and the Association of Pediatrics Academy’s (APA) latest statement on using shame, yelling, punishment and spankings to rear children. As well as tying the power and control paradigm to Gottman's work distinguishing the 4 horsemen as relationship destructive behavior.

    3) To be able to recognize our own personal relationship with power and control.

Katie Jensen LMHP has been in the mental health field for over 20 years. While she may use other forms of therapy, her first level of treatment is always from a Dialectical Behavior therapy framework. She has been using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) since 1994 and has been trained in all modalities of trauma therapy including EMDR I and II and Exposure therapy as a trainer with Dr. Edna Foa at the University of Pennsylvania.  She works with a team of other therapists who help her use her skills as she interacts with her clients.
