Brainspotting: Where You Look Can Affect How You Feel

Brainspotting is a relatively new type of therapy designed to help people access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain, including psychologically induced physical pain. Brainspotting was developed through David Grand's work with survivors of trauma, and many mental health professionals utilizing the approach have found it to be an effective form of treatment for a variety of mental health concerns.

Attendees will understand the difference between EMDR and Brainspotting during this Lunch & Learn. Attendees will be able to describe the modality of brainspotting and how it impacts the client. Finally, attendees will be able to recognize appropriate clients to refer for brainspotting.

Laura Pryor LIMHP, LPC, PLADC graduated from UNO in 2008 with her Masters in Community Counseling. She has been in private practice since 2010. In addition to her training in EMDR and Brainspotting she is also a DBT trained therapist. Her areas of expertise and passion include trauma, peri & postnatal mental health, chronic illness, and borderline personality disorder.
